Policy on the Internet

Several sites do a good job discussing policy issues concerning the Internet.
My top three favorite sites for policy are The Pew Internet & America Life, The Benton Foundation, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Discuss one important event or person in the past 5 or 10 years of the Internet.

Twitter, a micro blogging site, by Jack Dorsey launched in 2006. Twitter is one of the fastest growing sites on the Internet today. Recently, Marshall Kirkpatrick wrote that Twitter has just passed both the NYT and the WSJ in traffic numbers according to Compete and Quantcast. Will this just be the fad of the year or is twitter and microblogging here to stay?

Top predictions for 2009

louisgray.com has some predictions about Twitter, social media, Digg, and other companies in New Media.


Wired lists tools that will increase in importance in 2009. Identity management will increase with OpenID, Google Friend Connect and Facebook Connect. HTML 5 already is emerging to replace HTML 4.01, Lifestreaming with social network aggregators like FriendFeed will make gains in 2009. Location awareness application are predicted to increase.
